Sanele completed his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 2008 from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and has more than ten years of process engineering experience from different industries such as glass manufacturing, pulp and paper, catalyst and water. He also holds a BCom Financial Management degree from UNISA, and a BEng (Hons) Water Utilization from University of Pretoria. He is currently working as a Process Engineer at Umgeni Water, where he is responsible for process engineering support in the form of plant commissioning, optimization, design, and process audits for water treatment plants.

Sanele is a member of the South African Institution of Chemical Engineers (SAICHE) and registered as a professional engineer with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). He has been a WISA member since 2013 and has served as Treasurer of YWP-ZA KZN chapter between 2015 and 2017. Currently he is the Secretary of Anaerobic Sludge Processes Division of WISA.
